The makeup of teams changes from year to year in the Eau Claire Horseshoe League. This is due to the fact that team members are picked by team captains at the annual draft meeting held in late April or early May. After a pot luck supper and the club regular meeting, team captains review the roster of pitchers and select pitchers for their respective teams. The team captains consist of the four pitchers with the highest averages in their respective leagues. The draft consists of each captain picking in turn the other three members to make up their team. Typically, A league and B league consist of four teams with four members on each team. C league has four teams with three members per team. Teams are sponsored by businesses from Eau Claire and the surrounding area.
